Rare Behind-The-Scenes Glimpse

October 29, 2007 | 3 Comments

I try to keep professional and personal stuff separate and since this blog is more closely aligned with my professional world, I rarely discuss personal stuff. However, I can’t pass up the opportunity to share a music video I made with my five-month-old daughter, Rory.

My wife attended a conference Saturday morning and left us together for some quality father-daughter bonding. So, I rolled out of bed, got Rory up from her crib, changed and clothed her, fed her a yummy mixture of banana puree and oatmeal, and then started play time. Our play time consisted mostly of me singing Gwen Stefani and Martin Sexton songs to her - picture me sitting in front of a computer desk, reclined, jamming to iTunes with a baby on my lap watching me sing horribly. It lights up her face (and mine) with smile after smile - particularly since I’m moving her arms and making her dance along with the music. After singing her a few songs, I decided to video record our dance to one particular Martin Sexton song called 13 Step Boogie.

Unfortunately, she didn’t smile as much for the camera as she did when I was in front of her. Still, this video already feels like a classic memory that I’ll watch countless times over the years. As such, I thought I’d share it with you as a rare, behind-the-scenes glimpse of Todd at home… early Saturday morning with Rory, a video camera and some music. FYI, our dog, Wrigley, randomly jumped up on the ottoman between us and the camera… completely unintentional.

Power Profile: Online Marketing Blog

lee-ses.jpgPower Profile: Lee Odden
Lee’s Blog: Online Marketing Blog
Power 150 rank: 2 (as of 10/27/07)

How would you describe your blog to your mom?
Online Marketing Blog is a place where I get to write about the industry we work in and the things that are important to the kinds of companies we do business with. Our blog gives potential customers a glimpse at how we approach internet marketing and why we’re a leader in our category.

What blog post (of your own) are you most proud of and why?
Usually it’s the last past made that I’m most proud of – at least until I put up another. As of the time of this profile, the most recent post is:
Evaluating Client Search Marketing Readiness

I like the post because it provides real insight into what large companies that need search engine optimization services should consider before hiring an agency. Within the blogosphere there’s a lot of heresy, speculation and fact-less based fluff. Online Marketing Blog publishes information based on practical, actual experience - what works and what doesn’t.

What blog post do you most regret publishing and why?
I don’t think I have one that I regret.

What two blogs do you read most often?
Just two? SearchEngineLand.com and blog.searchenginewatch.com.

Which blogger would you most like to meet in person?
Steve Rubel or John Jantsch

Which blogger would you least like to run into in a dark alley?
Tamar Weinberg. She’s dangerous with a keyboard.

A Fun, Fresh Take on Old and Boring

October 26, 2007 | Leave a Comment

Most marketing professionals don’t look far for new strategies or tactics - just add a new twist to something old. Remember, the best ideas are always stolen. Modify, modernize, enhance, tweak, freshen, twist, change, alter, transform, adjust, amend… it’s all good in marketing. That said, here’s a hilarious new approach to the stale pre-flight safety speech. Listen carefully.
