Educating Communicators About The Social Media News Release
August 19, 2007

In late September (26-28), I’ll be presenting at the Ragan Communications Social Media Summit in Chicago titled “Corporate Communications and the Social Media Revolution.” I’ll be in great company as other presenters include Shel Holtz, Katie Paine and communications executives from JetBlue, Southwest Airlines and UPS.
My topic is the Social Media News Release - its history, its creation, its tools, its application, etc. With the conference only a month away, I was thrilled to see Stephen Davies write about the webitpr video, which I’d love to use in my presentation now. Thanks Stephen! You’ll be hearing from me soon.

Got something to say?

Hey Todd,
Glad you like it! And, yes, by all means please use it.
Let me know and I’ll send you a link to a high res version you can download.
Thanks again,
Stephen
[...] For my upcoming presentation on the social media release, I’ll be discussing affordable tools for creating your own multimedia elements. Recently, I asked a video professional if they knew of a web-based video editing app. He didn’t think anything existed. Well, lo and behold, I get an email pitch tonight pointing me to Flektor, a new web-based video and photo editing suite that allows users to drag and drop media to create their own videos (they call them fleks). The resulting ‘fleks’ can be easily embedded and linked. I’ve browsed the site, am very intrigued, but haven’t tested it thoroughly enough to say if its good or bad. Half of me says “Sweet, a great online tool for social medialites” while the other half says “Snap, more crappy videos will soon be flooding the net.” Anyone try this yet and have a review or opinion?
