The Future of Chicago + Windy City Bloggers

June 7, 2007

Above is a fictional future Chicago skyline (larger version) from the movie A Sound of Thunder. In honor of Chicago and all its greatness, below are some of the Chicago blogs that I’ve visited over the last year. I’m always looking for new Chicago-based blogs, so please send any recommendations my way. And if you’re looking for more Windy City bloggers, there are great directories at Chicago bloggers and Chicago blogmap. Here’s to Chicago hosting the 2016 Summer Olympics!

For those of you not familiar with Chicago, here is a quick road tour thanks to the 1980 movie Blues Brothers (my favorite musical):

Man, and I must be the youngest person on your list at 23. Cool!

Did you just use a pic from Sound of Freakin’ Thunder to start off a post about Chicago? Did that really just happen?

    Dude. Just…dude…

I’m happy to be on the list. And, Daniel, I was roller-skating to ‘Funkytown,’ watching the A-Team and trading stickers like an arbitrageur when you were born, so you’re younger than me, at least (and Todd (ha), Chris, Liz, David - even Clay). So if you need to rent a car, let us know!

Thanks for listing me! Also, just to throw it out there, I’m loving the Power 150.

And lastly, where’s Santiago Calatrava’s Chicago Spire in that picture? Surely, by 2055 it must have been built? Right?

    I think the 2055 image was pre-Spire.

Blueprints for the Spire specify the use of a negative index material coating that allows for negative refraction as a cloaking device. Also, Calatrava presumes that particle accelerators will reach Planck energies by 2055, so maybe the Spire is on another brane.

Hmm, I may take you up on that, Nina!

Speaking of which, I know this isn’t the most ideal place to post this, but at least it’s better than Craigslist.

Is anyone here getting rid of any bookshelves, a desk or a cabinet? I’m finally moving out of Evanston down to the city and it’s time for me to pick up some furniture!

Please e-mail me at daniel@danielhonigman.com if you do. I really appreciate it. And thanks, Todd, for letting me turn your site into a classified ad. Booyah.

Righteous photo, man. Since moving to Japan, I’ve really come to miss Chi-town.

Got something to say?
