Old Media Messenger Pigeons - Present Day
April 4, 2007
It’s a fact (so says Wikipedia): In the 19th century, Paul Reuter, founder of Reuters, used a fleet of over 45 messenger pigeons to deliver news and stock prices between Brussels, Belgium and Aachen, Germany. Messenger pigeons were also used extensively during WWI and WWII. In fact, they were still employed in the 21st century by remote police departments in India. However, thanks to the Internet, India’s Police Pigeon Service messenger system was retired. Put a check mark in the con column for the Internet.

Thanks Todd - This video was part of the ‘communication evolved’ campaign of which I must say I personally like the ‘bottle’ video even more: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qguZ7365lFA

Thanks, Kris. The ‘bottle’ version is hilarious too. Thanks for sharing. I hadn’t seen it yet.
