$300,000 Worth of Paint
March 8, 2007
Sony Bravia’s “Paint†commercial, which recently won Gold at the British TV Advertising Awards, exploded more than 18,000 gallons of non-toxic paint across several buildings in Glasgow, Scotland – that’s $300,000 worth of paint to the typical American Home Depot shopper. In total, the commercial was filmed from 65 different angles. Watch the entire 70 seconds of colorful paint-firework goodness:
The production took 10 days and 250 people to film. The less glamorous clean-up took five days and 60 people. Thankfully, they used a special water-based paint that made the mess easy to scrape up after the water evaporated. Tastefully, the paint was actually edible, or at least “safe enough to drink†considering it contained the same thickeners used in soups. Mmm. Mmm. That does go well with the chicken.
